Norwegian Joy Concierge Family Inside Room

We went on Norwegian Joy during New Year time. We wanted to book Concierge Family Inside Room but couldn't find much information about the category. It looked great from Norwegian's web site. So we booked it. It was total blast. This is one of best rooms out there for families. We had great time there, both inside stateroom and in public area. I thought we should share info in this room review video.

Thanks for the video!

We were in a CC Concierge Villa Suite with Balcony. We were actually a little disappointed at the room size. It was wider than a standard balcony/minisuite, but not that much. Depth wise, the bathroom took up a lot of space so the room didn't have a sofa, just a couple of chairs.

A couple of questions....(for anyone to answer)

1. Are the port side interior staterooms (12529/12531/12537/12541) larger than the starboard side interior staterooms (12527/12533/12535/12539)? Is it just the way that the deck-plan is drawn?

NCL uses this...

...but that is shaped like 12537 on the port side.

2. Will these suites no longer have concierge/private restaurant service after Sept. 2020 (going from CF to SP)?

3. Will these suites still get the higher DSC?

4. Where does guest #6 sleep? Is there a pullman above the child bed?

I would love the answers to these questions if anyone knows

1.  This is the room layout we stayed in on the NCL Joy in 2019.  When we peeked into rooms on the other side of the hall they appeared the same.

2 and 3.  Unsure as I last sailed in 2019.

4. Yes, there is a ceiling drop down bunk from above the single twin bed for passenger #6.  2 in the main bedroom, 2 on the living room couch and 2 in the second "kids" bedroom.

We just returned from the Joy (Nov 20-27, 2021).   The floor plan shown above doesn't do it justice.  We found the living area to be larger than pictured, with the closets in the living area and smaller bedroom located differently.  In stateroom 12535, having the closet on the TV wall makes the dining area even more spacious.

However, there did NOT seem to be a drop-down bunk in the smaller bedroom -- we looked carefully to see if one dropped down or flipped down Murphy-bed style, but there was only the one twin bed, plus a chair, round table and a padded stool tucked under the desk.  The fixed countertop would require them to rotate 90 degrees to fit another bed, making it feel like an inside stateroom inside the suite.  A double-inside, if you will.

The larger bedroom has loads of closet space, plenty of floor space, and fancy pillows piled on the bed.

The virtual window was floor to ceiling, and displayed a live or nearly-live feed from a camera located mid-ship.  On port days, they chose a different camera view if another ship was along-side.   There is a plexiglass panel over the lower screen and a railing, to make it feel like a balcony.  Closing the curtain over the screen turns it off, and the camera feed is shut off sometime late in the evening (went to static).

How was the butler and concierge service with this suite?

My sister and daughter shared the suite.  They didn't ask for anything special from the concierge - we'd made dinner reservations early and there were no shows requiring tickets, nor any tender ports.  They didn't have any meals served, didn't order room service, didn't even use the coffee maker, and the couch didn't need to be converted to a bed.

I don't think she even mentioned a butler (which are only in the Haven?) but did have a nice letter from the concierge welcoming them aboard and offering services.   They simply didn't need anything beyond the routine 2x a day refresh.

We have a reservation in one of these cabins on Jan 22, 2022 and would like to ask a few questions if I may.

Was there a special resturant for breakfast and lunch?

Did it have any special things in the cabin such as a fruit basket or daily treats?

I knew it did not have a butler  ( even so it said it did on the website),  however our DSC is $18.50 and that is  the same as the haven so it must be more than a glorified mini suite.   At least I hope so.

There is a lot of conflicting information on what is included in the Joy suites.  I also noticed that there is no mention anymore of the butler service and breakfast and lunch at LaCucina.  So I called and verified if it was still included because I know when I booked last month it clearly was included.   I was informed it was included but am not 100% comfortable with the verbal confirmation I received.

These are inside 2-bedroom suites are NOT Haven, so no access to the special Haven dining area or bar.  There were no treats or fruit baskets, either, just the chocolate strawberries we always get (latitude or casino, i forget).

It did/does have the higher DSC, which we expected.  Ultimately, as a family we felt like we had a whole extra cabin worth of space for gathering, and nobody had to sit on the bed to play cards.

We thought it was worth the upgrade bid, but your expectations might set that threshold in a different place.  Hope you found this helpful.
