Anyone have any Tips for cruise on Liberty

The liberty does 3 different cruises each month. a 6 day western. an 8 day western and an 8 day eastern. Each cruise is differnt.

But for the time being the Liberty does have a new cruise director-- well not new "John Heald" has been around since dirt

Cruise with an open mind.

Be able to go with the flow so any changes will ward of big time disappointments.

HAving a cruise in February you can still request a cabin change.

Myself I prefer deck 7 (empress deck) lots of reviews say that the cabins over the area by the lounge by the casinos are very noisy- We booked a 8B (7434 for the bigger balcony.

Well, you came to the right place! Below is a list of tips:

1. Don't miss the shows as they are the best I have seen while cruising.

2. Don't be affraid to kindly let your Team Waiters know when the service between courses becomes too long. They will fix the problem right away.

3. Breakfast and lunch on the Lido can be a nightmare if you pick the wrong time. It is best to go right when they open the buffet or just before they close it. Lines will be short.

4. If you cannot find a loung chair for sunbathing, look in the shade. At some point the sun will be on your side! That's when everyone that screwed you out of a chair will be in the shade!:D

5. If you are a past guest, go to the past guest party. The drinks and appetizers are pretty good (free).

6. If you have a shore excursion that is early and not with the ship, make sure you get down to the theater early for tender tickets, if you are not at a port with a pier!

I did a review from our cruise in January. The link for the review and pictures is listed below. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Be SURE to try the Spring Rolls at the oriental window on the Lido deck! They were the absolute best - especially the Shanghai Chicken ones.

If you want your robe for the last morning, hide it because they will take it away when making up the room for the night. (I was counting on it for the morning on our balcony as it was very chilly on our January cruise.)

You can order Room Service on the last morning! I never experienced this choice before on any other cruise. I was simply amazed!

Stay on the ship as long as you can @ Debarkation. Most of the luggage will be gone so yours will be easily found, and porters will not be busy and will be just waiting to help you.

I used pink nylon shower puff thingies on the handles of our luggage. Show up great among all the red and black bags. Bought on sale at 3 for a dollar and are practically indestructable.

Take large mugs with lids for your libations - the lids keep sand out on the beach.

Most importantly, know that you are going to have the best time ever - attitude is everything! Enjoy every moment on the Liberty. We sure did, and our weather was not good.:D

.:D

Hiding your robe on the last night you will be charged 45 bucks for the robe. The cabin steward MUST collect the blue beach towels and all the robes to be washed for the next crush of passengers the next day.

Hi Cub Daddy and anyone else who might know,

I am wondering about booking a shore excursion with anyone other than Carnival. What happens if the ship has to leave early (as it did in some cases)? Are you taking a chance that the ship may leave without you?

Thanks

elag-- if the ship is leaving early you will know before you get off the ship.

Last cruise to Costa Maya it was the only ship in port so it was easy to round about people that were in port.

Im sure it woulda been a mess if more ships were in.

When you get off the ship you will need your sign and sail card- you put in into the machine to let them know you got off. (when you get back on you feed the machine again to let them know you are back on) this lets the capt know who is still in port.

1. Eat breakfast in the dining room. The menu is good, virtually anything you want. Its much more relaxing than the lido buffet. Also if you're like me you will still overeat but not as much as if you were hitting the buffet. One thing to note is that you will be seated with other people. If you are looking for a quiet romantic breakfast try room service. 2. If you like corned beef or pastrami enjoy the deli. I found the quality of the food excellent and the service prompt. 3. Try the fish and chips. The boubilasse looked delicious but I was in too much of a hurry to wait. 4. If the weather is nice try and catch a late night movie on the lido deck. The big screen is terrific. There should be at least one movie showing that you will want to see. 5. On sea days expect a real crowd at the pools and hot tubs. If it works for you take a van on Grand Cayman Island to Seven mile beach and enjoy. That is one beautiful and big beach. 6. Don't miss any of the entertainment. The shows especially were top notch.

Pay the 30.00 surcharge and go to Harry's...it's a truly fabulous dining experience and not to be missed!! Trust me on this one...I'm a chef ;)

Check out the Fish and Chips kiosk upstairs from Emile's on Lido Deck...it was my favorite lunch spot....it wasn't what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised.

The houseband at the Stage Lounge was great...their version of Beatlemania was very enjoyable.

The houseband sounds like they may have been the same band we had on the Miracle in Nov. 2004....were they Japaneese???

Thanks!

All the above tips are great.

One small tip that I got before we sailed was about the Captain's Party - usually for an hour on the second evening before dinner. All drinks and appitizers are free. Howvever, the drinks - wine, manhattens, martinis are only average at best. Go to the bar area and order your own favourite drink. It, too, is free. I had three scotches compliments of the captain. Thanks, Captain!

We are considering a cruise on Liberty next January 07 out of Ft Lauderdale.

Was the weather really chilly in Grand Cayment/Cozumel this January? We like to get a way from cold weather. That's why we cruise in the winter. As long as we can lay out at pool side-we will be happy!

Also, is there a put put golf course on board?

Thanks for all the info so far. It is helping us make our decision and the Liberty sounds great.

John was our cruise director in europe last summer but he was traing his replacement. The young man was from Austraila, and would be taking over for John when the ship was headed back for Europe this coming Spring. As for the shows, ho hum for us. We actually had seen one of the shows before on a previous cruise.

Weather in Grand Cayman was in the 80's on Feb. 1st. No put-put on board but there is a golf pro with a swing analyser who will give you golf lessons. That might improve your put-put game.:)

I just got off the Liberty this morning:

Our robes were still there this morning, and we didn't hide them.

You do have to hide the plastic Lido cups, which make great bathroom/

evening bedside cups, the staff is very efficient at picking those up! We finally secreted them in our bureau drawers....

We did regular debarkation, we had no trouble finding a porter, who patiently waited while we walked through the maze to find our luggage, and got us on a van to the airport, where we booked Earlier flights and were sipping cokes in the airport soda fountain by 10 AM, on the plane by 11:30.

Study the deck plan to learn your way around before you go.

ALWAYS remember that you can get from one place to the next by way of the promanade deck.

The Golden Dining room was hard to find but once we figured it out-- it was a piece of cake.

We just took the Eastern one. It was Feb 4. Ship was nice. We were on the Lido Deck. Never would I book that floor again. 9th floor. Very noisy ..balcony doors slammed on one side of us all nite every nite. Didn't see any drunks. Most people were very nice. We dined in the Silver Dining room . Very bumpy. I had the patch on too. Weather was nice most of the time in 80's. Rained for awhile on Sunday on way to Puerto Rico. Esther
