goingtothechapel Posted April 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Hi all, We are leaving on the Conquest this Sunday and driving down to NO from Lafayette. I need to know how late can we get to the cruise terminal and still be safe? Thanks in advance!
tef43 Posted April 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2004 You need to be checked in no later than 30 minutes prior to sailing. Why not drive down the night before and stay over in NOLA? Get a good night's sleep and be able to get to the pier early and stress-free? Tom <--- Curmudgeon of the Seas Eleven cruises so far. Up next: Shhhh, it's a surprise! serene56 Posted April 29, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2004 What times your ship leave? Figure if a ship leaves at 5 you must be onboard by 4:30 (half hour BEFORE sailing) so the latest you can be arriving would be 3:30 I dont know how long porters are stationed nearby to take your luggage. dan40 Posted April 29, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2004 I'd say 30 to 60 minutes before departure time. But why? You will be missing a large part of your first cruise day. If you board at the earliest opportunity you get the music, the excitement, the foo foo drinks, the buffet, ship's exploration, meeting cruisemates, and time to wind down from your drive. We live in Fl and can drive to all the ports in 3 hours or much less, yet we normally stay in a hotel by the port the nite before and extend the vacation by a day. goingtothechapel Posted April 29, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 29, 2004 We wanted to stay the night before, however we have to attend a friends wedding on Saturday night and it doesn't start unti 7:00pm. There is also the problem of finding a reasonably priced hotel room being that it is JazzFest this weekend and needless to say everything is either booked completely or outrageously priced. We figure if we leave the house by 9-10ish in the morning that will be us there around 1-2 depending on the traffic so we should have plenty of time if we don't HAVE to be there until say 4:00 Thanks for all the answers so far! merlot Posted April 29, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2004 I would try and get there as early as possible. While these trips are labeled as 5 nights/4 days that's not really what you get when you arrive right before the ship sets sail and you have to debark on the last day at 8 am. It's a 6 hour drive to the port for us. Last time we left at 4 in the morning so we could get on and enjoy all the festivities that happen prior to sailing. This time we'll go down the night before. I want to get as much bang for my buck as I can Have a great time.
