Insurance refund?

We have back to back cruises scheduled for the Caribbean in February 2021. I understand if Princess cancels the cruise all monies paid would be refunded ( either FCCs or cash/credit card reimbursement). If we were to cancel the cruise ourselves early, say Sept. or early Oct., would the insurance we already paid for be refunded to us? We have Princess Platinum insurance. It’s too early to see when/if these cruises will happen, just don’t know how close to final payment it might be cancelled. I figured someone on this board has cancelled a cruise which insurance has been paid for early. Thanks.

Princess Vacation Protection is refunded in full if the cruise is cancelled before the start of the penalty period. I usually prepay for Princess Vacation Protection if DW and I have had no medical changes within the lookback period because of the pre-existing conditions exclusion. I have cancelled several cruises before final payment, and I have always had my Princess Vacation Protection refunded.

 

In normal times, the Princess Vacation Protection has been promptly refunded. When I cancelled a cruise this year during the pandemic (before final payment and before Princess cancelled the cruise), it took Princess several months to process the cancellation and the refund, but I did receive a full refund.
