We have always stayed at the Boathouse on Hythe Marina. It only has 10 rooms, most of which have fantastic views of Southampton Water. Friendly service; restaurant in-house. We always get up to watch 'our' ship coming into port to welcome us. Free parking within yards; lovely walk to the water's edge to watch all the comings and goings. Hythe village is within walking distance, and if the roads are snarled up, just take the Hythe Ferry to your ship (bit challenging if you've loads of luggage though; but we have seen people do it).

What an interesting suggestion - don't think I've seen that one mentioned before. Thank you.

Snap.  Will do a bit of research for our Feb 22 cruise.  Thanks again

I assume the ferry only works if you have come to Southampton without a car, or is there cruise parking nearby? Also where is Hythe - is it opposite, quite near to the New Forest?

Just done a bit research.  On the Marchwood side of the river, more or less opposite QE2 terminal.

Looks good, and prices seem reasonable.  Don't know anything about the ferry though.

We tend to use the Dolphin pre-cruise, but have been looking at alternatives outside, but still close to Southampton.  This place will certainly be going on the list for 2022, or earlier if possible!
