Phaedra_11 Posted February 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2006 Hi there, I'm looking for suggestions what to do in Aruba. We'll be on the April 29th sailing of the Grandeur of the Seas. We are not beach people. Are there any private companies that can drive us around and show us the sights?
cruzr4vr Posted February 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2006 Last May was our last trip to Aruba, on an RCCL ship. We did a ship's excursion (and the name of it is forgotten), which was a tour of the island on 4WD jeeps. 4 people to a jeep, there were about 20 jeeps with a leader to guide us. We mostly were along the coast, and sometimes on really rough roads. Great experience, we saw things you'd never see otherwise. Several stops, including a lighthouse. I'd guess RCCL still has this shore excursion. At night, if your ship stays until late at night, there is always Carlos and Charlies, which is walking distance from the pier. If you're not big drinkers (we're not), it a great place to people watch. Also, check out the shore excursions for Aruba on the RCCL web site. If you don't go with RCCL, you'll still get ideas on what to do. There are taxis and local tour people. And, Aruba is a very safe place to be, despite the news of the past year.
