Anan Bay & Misty fjords

Hello:

We are in Ketchikan July 6. 1:00-8:00. On the Raidiance.

We have booked Anan Bay with Southwest Aviation. (Already have permit.) Jim says he can pick us up at Anan and do the Misty fjords trip after. He knows our schedule in port. Anan Bay is our top choice and the normal time will be spent there. What do you think?

Yes, you can do that. Since it is basically a charter flight up to Anan from Ketchikan it isn't that big of a deal to fly over to Misty. It depends on the operator but some of them do charge for an extra 30 minutes of flying time to go over there.

Yes there is an extra charge. But I figure it's worth it.

The only downside is there may not be enough time to see the city.

But there's always the next time:)

A suggestion - if you have the use of the plane for that extra time, see if you can take the extra time at Anan Creek if you wish and skip Misty Fjords (as in make a last minute decision based on the level of bear activity at Anan Creek). Don't know if its possible, but we found ourselves wishing we had much more time at Anan. Could've stayed there all day!!

I too would definately take added time at Anan compared to Misty Fjords scenic flightseeing.

 

With downtown Ketchikan at the dock, you probably have some time for a quick look. If the flightseeing is a prioirty, then definately do the add on. Southeast Aviation is a top vender choice of mine. :)

That sounds like the way to go. I'll keep my options open. We've also booked a day trip to Brooks Falls pre cruise. Plenty of bears to see I hope:). Has anybody done Anan and the Fiords on the same day?
