Bathrooms with a 3 year old?

Hi all! I will be on a cruise with my 3 and 7 year old this autumn. I have been on 2 cruises previously with the older child but he was in diapers at the time. It has also been years since my last cruise so I honestly can't remember.  We will be on RCCL Symphony if that affects anything.

Are the toilets on the ship generally child friendly or too high/big?  Are there any potty seats/folding step stools that you have used that worked well?

Thanks for any help!

They were pretty high for our youngest at that age.  The sink was also difficult for him to reach while brushing teeth.  I asked staff for a stool, but for liability reasons they wouldn't provide one.  I then purchased a folding on that I can put in my luggage and stay next to my child while they are using it.  While there haven't been any balance issues, but I would just hate to have the ship suddenly rock and them fall off at the counter.  The one we have is similar to this one.

Thank you!  I am adding this to my shopping list.

  • 2 weeks later...

we started cruising with DS when he was 3. We didn't use any step stools on the cruise and we didn't have any problems.

I would probably advise to have some disposable toilet seat covers with you, just in case there are none in the bathroom. Especially for when you are off the ship.

Or a folding seat cover.
