capsplace Posted June 6, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2021 (edited) Does anyone know if we can obtain a Visa on Arrival when our ship arrives in Maputo, Mozambique? Edited June 6, 2021 by capsplace
irisbax3 Posted June 6, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2021 The answer to your question is yes; howver, it might depend on the cruise company. We were in Maputo in Dec. 2019 on Oceania. We paid for the visa through Oceania and they obtained it for us.
FraserK Posted May 18, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2022 Good morning Following this post. Did you get your visa via your cruise ship? We are going next year on Azamara so interested. Thanks Kat
robsaw Posted June 12, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2022 We too are going to Maputo, Mozambique in 2023 on Azamara. The information on visa requirements for Mozambique - even from official sources - is varied and inconsistent and has conditions that don't make sense for cruises. So, question remains - can we get visa onboard/on-arrival at port of Maputo?
ian1968 Posted December 12, 2022 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2022 Hi all, I wondered if you heard anything more about Azamara and if they could help with Mozambique visa applications on board. It’s a tricky one and I can’t find the answer at the moment. Many thanks in advance, Ian
NancyinRuralPA Posted December 30, 2022 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2022 We are on the 1/27/23 sailing to South Africa on Azamara and they emailed that we could obtain a visa upon arrival in Mozambique.
CountessP Posted January 12, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2023 We just got back from Azamara cruise with Maputo stop. YES, they arranged for the visa. $50 pp. They gather the passports of those that want to get off the ship and when you get it back, it's got this lovely Visa stamp in it. You don't even get your passport back to disembark the ship when you get to Maputo. That's done with your cabin key card. So, it's easy as can be, no worries. We ended up doing a FREE walking tour, which you can easily find & book online. Totally worth it. If fact, the same guy through whom we arranged the tour handed us off to a colleague and guided the ship excursion tour. Same tour, his was shorter and more expensive. It's a nice walking tour which I highly recommend. Fort, train station, plazas, several parks, and you do learn a lot of history. We did miss the beach, so if you want the beaches, which I hear are beautiful, this is not the tour you want.
HDiff Posted January 12, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2023 Hi we are going on that cruise later this month. Please advise re the free walking tour. Sounds great! Also, did you feel safe going off the ship independently?
Jim Heller Posted March 6, 2023 #9 Share Posted March 6, 2023 We're scheduled for that cruise this December. What about shots needed for Maputo? Malaria pills/shots needed? I'm guessing that the So. African stops are less of a concern?
Jim Heller Posted March 6, 2023 #10 Share Posted March 6, 2023 Another Azamara Capetown question: how rough are the 4x4 rides to do the day safari outings? My wife needs chiropractic care once or twice a month so some concern over those outings. Thanks.
