Weekly Sargassum Reports with Maps

I am putting up a link to a NOAA webpage that weekly maps the extent of the sargassum inundation in the Caribbean among other locations. (This is not generated from the Sargassum Sea but a newer area further south.) The maps for the Lesser Antilles would apply the best for the Windstar cruises. Anguilla is labeled and that is just above St Maarten. The largest land mass to the left of Anguilla will be Puerto Rico. That should help orient you for finding the BVI.

A St Thomas online paper has a highly informative article saying the inundation is projected to be significant.  https://stthomassource.com/content/2021/04/16/sargassum-brown-tide-threatens-the-caribbean/

Don't let this put you off of going to the Caribbean. Depending on currents and local situations, not all beaches will be equally affected. One of my favorite places to stay on St Thomas had in the past little to no impact while others were choked with it. Check out the local news sources for the various islands for guidance on which areas are in good shape and which are not.
