Good analysis and well said. Sad but probably accurate. If you want smaller ships and stay in Carnival Corp it might be time to start looking at Seabourn.

We won't sail any bigger.  If the mass market lines keep dumping their smaller ships; we'll have to head over to the smaller more upscale (more expensive) lines.

We were also on board.  Awesome trip to end on since Covid has been a huhe party crasher!!  We did 2 WC on Pacific Princess in 2017 and 2019.  Loved the small ship!  Already looking at Azamara for the new Onward aka PP!
