Westerdam-- Kids

Have any of you used Club HAL on the Westerdam? I am interested in knowing something about the staff and if the program seems well-organized.

I am interested too. We are going on the April 9th Westerdam. We have an 11 yr old and an 8 year old. I know there are close to 150 kids under 18 scheduled to be on board.

How do you know there will be 150 kids on your cruise? Where did you get that information? We're on the 3/19 Westerdam and am curious as to the kid-count.

Yes, I too am interested in how you can find out the number of kids expected. We are also on the 3/19 Westerdam.

My travel agent found out from my request. I think you can call directly to Holland America to find out also.

We took our kids on the Westerdam in January. They had a blast! Club HAL was great for them (ages 5 and 8) and it gave me and the wife a break. Activities were planned all day (except lunch time) and went until 11:00PM ish. It wasn't quite the Disney Cruise line :rolleyes: , but what do you expect?

Thanks for the information. Do I dare ask how you hurt your hand?! Did the clubs have stuff everyday or just sea days. Can you give an example of your kids favorite activities?

When we made our reservations for the Westerdam in August, the HAL gal put me on hold and gave me a specific breakdown by age group, which is a lot more than RCCL was able to tell me (which was zip) last year when we did a western Carib cruise.

Hmm... I just called HAL and asked for the kid count on the 3/19 cruise and she told me there wasn't a way for her to get that information.

 

Is there a secret number or code word that someone knows about?! :)

Check the Roll Call Board for the March 19th Westerdam sailing. You'll find the answer there.

You must call guest services--they can give you that information. The 4/9 sailing of the Westerdam has about 60 kids in the 8-12 range.

I broke my hand wrestling with my bro-in-law. I grabbed hold of the couch bed, we both put our weight on it (200lbs a piece), and the steel bars crushed my hand :(

 

Club HAL was every day - port or at sea. Their favorite activities were the scavenger hunts, art, movie night, heck - they loved it all. I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised. They understand the attention span is short so they change activities every 30-45 mintues throughout the day. I hope you have a great time!
