Is an hour and 40 minute connection time as safe connection to get from the domestic terminal to international terminal?

Should be OK....depending on where your flight arrives, you are all behind security, so just a matter of making your way from one concourse to another.  There is no "international terminal".

 

Suggest looking up a terminal map, either on the PHL website or the AA website, so you know the lay of the land.
