Excursion suggestions.......

Hi - we just returned from Tortola (as part of our 10 day eastern caribbean cruise). While doing research, I didn't find much to do in Roadtown. But you can take a taxi to one of their beaches. What we decided to do was go to the Baths in Virgin Gorda and I would HIGHLY recommend it. Rather than going to a beach on Tortola (which probably looks similar to other beaches on the other islands), we wanted to check out the Baths and the enormous granite boulders we read about.

All you have to do, is walk about 15 min. from the pier to the ferry docks. They've got this building with 3 different ferry carriers (all have similar prices). 1 was Smiths, 1 was Speedy's, can't remember the 3rd one. It is about $30 roundtrip and a 20 minutes ferry trip. Once you get there, you are taxied off (usually included in the price) to the Baths. Once you get there, you pay $3 per person to enter.

You then walk down (a little hike - about 53-5 minutes) a dirt path to the beach. It is beautiful!! Huge rocks, blue water, white sand, blue sky - such an amazing site.

You can hang out at this beach, or look to your left and you will see the entrance to the Caves towards Devils Bay Beach. You can do some research on these boards to see if it is something that would intetrest you - seems like everyone that goes to Tortola, heads off to Virgin Gorda first! So you climb, crawl, work your way through the boulders and are brought to an even prettier beach. It really is a great experience...we left Roadtown at 8:55 and took the 2:30 ferry back...felt it was plenty of time. Then had some time to explore Roadtown before getting on the ship. Didn't find it to be very nice...went into a local super market, bought some alcohol...took pics.
