Bearvet Posted August 12, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2021 I have not done one on a cart (https://www.alaskaexcursions.com/sled-dog-discovery-2/) but have done one where you fly in a helicopter to a glacier and ride there (we were in Seward https://www.sewardhelicopters.com/seward-dog-sled-tours). Looks like there is a helicopter/glacier tour in Juneau also (https://alaskashoreexcursions.com/juneau/glacier-dogsled-tour-via-helicopter-tour). This was expensive, but it was one of the highlights of our trip!!! If you can swing it, financially, do the glacier trip!!! Just my opinion 😉 Do you have a link to the specific one you're considering?

It was a good experience riding in a cart and petting cute puppies. However, I have also done a Sled Dog cart experience near Seward (https://ididaride.com/) and Coastal Helicopters Glacier/sled dog tour in Juneau. Of the three experiences, the "Mushers Camp" in Juneau was the weakest. NOTHING can compare to sled dogs on a glacier 😉 If in your budget, would completely recommend https://www.coastalhelicopters.com/ Edited August 13, 2021 by DogLover Add link
shesmi Posted August 13, 2021 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2021 (edited) We did a tour in 2017 with Heli-Mush out of Juneau. Helicopter sightseeing to Norris glacier where the dog camp is, 2 mile ride on dog sled, then spend time visiting with dogs and then more helicopter sightseeing on way back to ship. It was a once-in-a-lifetime, incredible excursion. Expensive, but we felt it was worth every penny and more. Flying through the mountains was indescribable, landing at the camp and hearing the excited barking of the dogs was like nothing else. I'd say it's a must-do if you can swing it. https://www.alaskahelimush.com/your-glacier-flight-to-dog-world/ Edited August 13, 2021 by shesmi
