Anyone getting denied exemptions for cruises?

I assumed, incorrectly, that because we were able to check-in our two kids under age 12 that they were approved for exemption for our 8/29 cruise.  We were told via email we would hear no later than 14 days in advance about exemption.  Today i called to double check and was told we'd hear about exemption on 8/25, 4 days before we're supposed to board.  Here's to hoping for a family cruise
