This Ain't Homer's Odyssey - A Live B2B2B on Odyssey of the Seas (8/22/2021-9/11/2021)

Recommended Posts

As a reminder, we had the Ultimate Dining Package for the 8 night 8/28 Cruise.

For night 3 we were back at Giovanni's for dinner this time.

I could honestly live off of appetizers.  We ordered:

Antipasti platter

Day 4 Lunch we were back at Playmakers.

I ordered the Chicken fingers and asked for just a few onion rings (ie not the TOWER) but did not realize they chicken fingers came with fries.  I learned slowly how to order LOL

Paul ordered the Playmaker burger - that thing is freaking huge! (and very good!)

For Night 4 Dinner we were back at Chops.

I had the wedge salad for an appetizer.

Paul had the crab cake.

I WANTED the Roasted chicken but the waiter talked me out of it because it takes so long to cook and we would have been there forever.  Not sure if maybe on a "normal" cruise it would not take as long because they would have some cooked in advance?  I ended up going with the 6oz filet again.  It was good but I am not a big beef person so was looking forward to something different.

Paul had the larger filet.

Sides were mashed potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms.

Paul got a pizza with 1/2 Giovanni's Pizza and 1/2 Meat Lover's.  He said he was glad he tried the Giovanni one but would not order it again.  He was not a fan of the cheese on it.  HE really enjoyed the Meatlovers and wished you could just order them a la carte.

For lunch on 9/3, we went to Playmakers again.  We really like the food here.

We got a Pulled pork nachos to start which was a mistake based on the food that was coming, but really good.

I think I mentioned before that they were having a few mechanical problems.  I am not sure exactly what they were, but we had issues leaving port a few days.  As we were walking up the stairs to Playmakers in the Seaplex, we noticed there was splatterings of what I assume to be oil outside of the upstairs door on the deck, railings and on the side of the ship.  Hopefully the pics are clear enough to see.  That cannot be normal right?

On the way out from lunch, they were out there pressure washing the oil away...

We both go the burger.  It was very good, but the patty is way to thick for my liking.

For our final night on the UDP, we went back to our favourite of this trip, Giovanni's!  We hit up some favourites and one new dish.

I once again asked for a small antipasti. Yummmmm

I tried the Linguini con le Vongole.  It was very good but I do love that Fettuccine...

And Paul went for the Meat Lovers Pizza again.

We had been told the Go Banana's dessert was great.  We decided to give it a shot and it was ok but I do not think I would order it again.

I think I might have missed a few meals in there somewhere but anything we ordered would have been the same as what we already had before.  I really enjoyed the dining package but as I said previously, it was too much for us for an 8 night for the restaurants onboard.  I will definitely be trying it again, but for shorter cruises on this class.

On our last night with the UPD, we went up to Playmakers because we did have to try the ice cream them have there.  It is several scoops of different flavours of Ben & Jerrys with sauces and is delicious.  It is served in a souvenir Helmut cup that you get to keep.

We met a fantastic pinnacle couple on day 1 of the 2nd cruise who became our friends and trivia buddies for the last 2 cruises.  We ended up winning the progressive trivia with them on the 8/28 sailing and got this cute backpack with some goodies inside (water bottle, hat, zipper pulls, pens, key chains, and these fantastic new carabiner key chains that I have never seen before this sailing!).

We gave away some of the prizes as we have already won several times through the weeks but kept the hat, bag and carabiners. I think we can hope with 6 of the carabiners.  They are likely going to end of as stocking stuffers for some folks come Xmas time 🙂

Here are photos from Cabin #3 - a forward Spacious Oceanview 10506 (4M).  Not as large as the last one (10510), but still larger than a normal ocean view and plenty of open space!

On our third week, (6 night cruise starting 9/5/21) we sort of steered clear of the main dining venues for the most part as I think we were still too full from the last 2 weeks.  🤣

We were to the MDR on the first evening.  The menu was the same as night 1 from the first week.

I had the salmon.

Paul had the fried chicken.

On one of the other evenings, we just grabbed some antipasti and pizza from Sorrentos, and two of the evenings we had an early dinner at 4:45 at Cafe Two70 and grabbed salads and sandwiches.  I did not grab pics of what we grabbed but did get photos of some of the sandwich options 🙂

We did go to the Solarium Bistro one evening.  I have only been there for lunch before. I wish I had known how light the options were for dinner previously.  It was delicious!

There was a menu but everyone was self serve in little dishes buffet style.
