Cruising to Cozumel next week... what to do?

So many choices... don't know what to do for excursions when in Cozumel. We aren't drinkers and don't snorkel or swim... A good beach would be nice, or maybe just exploring walking around downtown shopping? Any advice for two gringos? Also, is the shopping downtown withing walking distance of where RCI tenders passengers in or do we need to take a taxi? We are walkers, so a little distance is no problem for us. Please help us what to do while in Cozumel.

San Miguel is a great place to explore...check out the museum...wander through the streets off the plaza, sit and people watch and take in the sights and sounds...if you want negotiate with a taxi and explore San Gervasio ruins...you should be able to walk to town except from Puerta Maya. Hope this helps...you may want to purchase The Can-do map...it is the best ...http://www.cancunmaps.com

AFter reading the many reviews and suggestions of these forums, we've decided to rend a Taxi to take us to Paridise Beach. We'll stay there as long as we want, then go back and shop a little before getting back on the ship. :)

A lot depends on how long you will be in port, and where you will tender to. The wife & I were inCoz last saturday from 7am to 7pm. We were tendered to the downtown pier. We spent the morning walking/shopping/sightseeing from there up to the north end of the shopping district, which is about a 20 minutes if done non stop. We had an early lunch at Pancho's Backyard (wonderful!), and then walked back down. We then took a cab ($13 one way) down to Paradise Beach, which was Fantastic! Taxied back up, and still had time to sight see.

As you don't snorkel or swim - have you looked at the Atlantis Sub excursion?? We do snorkel, but don't dive as of yet, so this was a very cool way to get under the water. Basically, the sub has a bench in the middle of the sub that sits about 20 - 25 on each side, and everyone has a good porthole view. The sub ventures down about 100 feet and you get to check out the reefs.

Definately worthwhile - and plenty of time to go off and shop or whatever!

Happy sailing!!!
