Hotel in Istanbul

We will be leaving Istanbul late October on Brilliance of the Seas and plan to arrive a day or two early for sightseeing. Does anyone have hotel suggestions? It doesn't need to be the most expensive, but location, safety and cleanliness are important.

There are a lot of options. Are you looking for something more local or one of the larger chains? Tripadvisor has some pretty good info on the areas and reviews of hotels that might help you decide. We booked the Empress Zoe for out two night post-cruise stay, we like to get as much local flavor as we can and most of what we wnat to see is an easy walk from there. Some of the larger chains have bigger security.

We stayed at the Four Seasons - an old converted jail - abosultely lovely. It is in the old section and within walking distance of the Blue Mosque, etc.

We stayed at the Sari Konak Hotel prior to joining our Seabourn cruise and it was truly wonderful! It is a small family run hotel, very clean, beautiful breakfast with homemade bread and jams and you can walk to most places you will want to see! Our luggage did not arrive with us and without the outstanding help we received from the hotel we would not have had it before we sailed. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
