rlkubi Posted September 8, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2021 (edited) Does anyone know if Carnival travel insurance begins when you leave your home and ends when you get home? Do you know if it would cover hotel if you get covid and need to quarantine? Thanks! Appreciate any help you can give me. Babr Posted September 9, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2021 Coverage begins when you depart for the first travel arrangement made by the cruise line which would be the day of embarkation. Are you flying to the port? In that case, coverage is extended for two days prior to the embarkation date and two days after your return to the origination point. The trip interruption portion of the policy will reimburse you up to 100% of your cruise fare if you are unable to complete your trip. It is supposed to cover unused days of the trip and any other non-refundable expenses. You can also use it to pay any additional expenses for your return home. It may not be enough to completely cover the cost of an extended quarantine at the end of your cruise. In previous instances, people who tested positive were quarantined on the ship until the end of the cruise. If they drove to the port, they were allowed to drive themselves home; however, people who flew to the port were not allowed to fly home immediately. They were required to complete their quarantine in a local hotel contracted for that purpose. Carnival does not supply financial assistance. klfrodo Posted September 9, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2021 Just to add, travel insurance (even Carnivals) is reimbursement based only. You pay for all services needed, then, when you get back home you file a claim with the insurance company for reimbursement.
