The "Newer" Veendam

Has anyone been on the Veendam since she came out of dry dock for referbrishing? Is she better than ever now with everything updated and complete? We sail on her to Alaska in June.

I'll be in/on her in May. I will report then if we still haven't heard. If she just got her SOEs, she will be a beaut. I've been on two post-SOE voyages and everything was lovely.

We were on the "Newer" Veendam on 2/4 to 2/11. I thought the ship looked great - new carpeting and very clean with the usual lovely flowers everywhere. Most everything in our cabin was new looking and the bed was wonderful! Service was topnotch as usual for HAL and we had a wonderful cruise. The only exception being that due to bad weather we could not tender to Grand Caymen. This was our 14th cruise and the first time we have missed a port so we could not complain.

 

Also, we drove to Tampa and this port is so cruise friendly. Parking ($12 a day) is right at the gate and requires very little walking. Enjoy your cruise.

This is great news! We are looking forward to sailing on her. So far we have 68 people in our group that are going so it should be a lot of fun!

It is my understanding that the Veendam was to have the theater changed over to the Culiary arts center and have the oasis area added on the top deck?

If you are up in the crows nest and look out the front window and look down you will see the roof of the remodeled spa area and weight room.

We are sailing on the Veendam in March and I am anxiously trying to find reviews,daily programs, etc. on the "new" Veendam. I am so glad that we heard from Dorie37 that the ship is great.
