Xingang to Beijing by private car/ van

Hi Everyone =

We are on the 17th of April sailing on the STATENDAM and we like to do thing on our own or with a few other people, instead of the expensive shore excursions. I have heard that from the port in Xingang you can arrange a car or van to take you Beijing and then bring you back the next day, the way you do when you dock at the port for Bangkok.

I have heard it is not so expensive. Does anyone have any information on this and is there anyone who might want to share a van with us. Also if you have any good ideas on inexpensive hotels in Beijing that would be great as welll

I would prefer to be able to just find van or taxi when we get there like we did in Thailand but I am not sure that is possible. Any other information about any of the ports on the cruise would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks
