A good reason to be dropped off on the uptown side of 12th Avenue and walk across the street to the ship!

LOL!!! Oh yes - we sailed out of NY last October and our limo driver dropped us off across the street - which I was not prepared for - it was me and 4 pieces of luggage!!!!! I did not have a significant other to help me! I made it across though. We met some other CC's onboard and the one couple took a taxi - guess how long they sat in traffic for to be dropped off on the same side as the pier - at least 2 hours!!! She said she was going nuts!!!! Lesson learned: get dropped off across the street and do not bring as much luggage!!! Oh - and one more thing - make sure you tie your luggage tag on really good - as we were crossing the street - I saw my friend tag laying in the middle of the street!!! How nice am I that I stopped luggage and all and picked it up for her???

Isn't that a pic of the East River Drive? No where near the Cruise ship terminals but typical of NYC traffic.

I'm not positive, but I think that pic was taken from the ship as it was still boarding passengers. At least that's what it looks like. We had that view when we sailed the Triumph in 2002 out of NYC. But when we sailed, the traffic was stopped in both directions. Do you see all those garbage trucks near the tent? That's where they load the barges to take the trash out of the city. When we went up, the trucks were all trying to get to the barge and we sat, seeing the ship the whole time off to our left, for over an hour in the traffic. The sanitation department was stopping all the traffic and only letting the garbage trucks through. At least we weren't paying by the amount of time we sat, but were at a flat rate for the trip from NJ.
