Mom1977 Posted February 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2006 I'm set to leave on the Triumph on March 25th. Right now, if I check Carnival's site, or the online booking sites, there are at least 10 available cabins in almost all the catagories. I figured by this time (a little over a month) that things would be filling up. But they also haven't dropped the price yet. How soon before leaving do they drop the price? I'm getting paranoid (while looking over my shoulder...) Is there a reason there aren't many others going on at this time?

I wouldn't imagine they are going to lower the price because they would have done so by now. I'm not getting your question, are you expecting a price drop? big_duck Posted February 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2006 It does seem that a lot of sailings aren't selling out that fast. There are cabins avialable for our 3/11 sailing on the Triumph as well. Maybe cruising has finally peeked in popularity, maybe people aren't booking because of all the negative press recently. Personally, I think it would be nice to sail on a ship that isn't packed to the rafters for a change.

Until 2 weeks ago, there were tons of balcony cabins left but hardly any inside cabins. Then suddenly, the balcony cabins disappeared and tons of inside cabins appeared. About the same time some of the people on our roll call were finding out their cabin numbers by doing the gift method on Carnival's website. About a week later, our docs started showing up. I just figured that Carnival did their upgrading just before sending the docs. I'm surprised there are still balconies available on your sailing since your docs should be out too. LUCY55 Posted February 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2006 We are going on Liberty on the March 26 sailing. I also think there are available cabins. Saw residency rates again (last week) for the Chicago area. Not as good as the rates I got earlier-but a price drop nonetheless.
LUCY55 Posted February 20, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2006 Yep, residency rates still there (Illinois). $529 inside, $629 oceanview, $899 balcony. Considering this is springbreak--these prices are not that bad. (Liberty 6-day). However, airline tickets are really, really high. The trick is always to get a good price on the cruise AND the airline tickets.
NRWO Posted February 20, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2006 You can't rely on what's "available" via the website. What they don't show you is TBA cabins sold, group space reserved, etc. It's a much more complex system of berthing than it appears via what you see online. DqALEX Posted February 20, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 20, 2006 We Just booked the Carnival Legend for Dec 26 and the ship is almost full. There are 23 of us going and there were only two cabins left that were side by side. The rest of us are all over the ship
