Hotel pre-cruise in Fort Lauderdale?

I would appreciate any advice you guys could give on a good hotel to stay pre-cruise in Fort Lauderdale. We don't get in until Friday after 6pm, so I just want a nice, convenient place to stay. Doesn't have to be luxurious, but fairly nice. I can get a corporate rate at Embassy Suites for $159/night, which I didn't think was bad. I wanted to see if you have any recommendations of places that might cost a little less. Thanks for your help.

Check LaQuinta Inn and Suites/ Airport Hollywood.

Holiday Inn Express Convention Center is about the same price and has free airport shuttle.

New mattresses were installed 12/28/05.

For the $159 rate, I'd be staying at Embassy Suites.

 

Fort Lauderdale seems to be a fairly expensive place to stay for just one night pre-cruise. Supply and demand is definately noticable as room rates in even some of the dumps can be over $100/night.

 

We're currently booked in the La Quinta for $129 and I consider it a pretty good deal for the area.
