How late can you add someone?

We’re going in a week on the Magic, and I’m trying to find out if we would be able to add my mom to our cabin. She would be a third person, and I know covid was doing weird stuff with triple occupancy. Obviously, we’d be paying for her, but is there a time cutoff for such a thing? My pvp is on vacation so I just want to know if it’s even possible before I start down this road.

We were booked on Horizon for next week, they moved us to Sunshine. The third pax fare was so high ($1000+) it was cheaper to book a second cabin. Found a solo, upper/lower with Cheers/RU2 code and no single supplement. Your problem at this late date is these should be among the busiest since the restart. You may be able to get it all worked out because of Covid cancellations.

ALSO, Carnival has some cabins designated as being for 1 or 2 people and other cabins designated as being for 3 or 4 people.  I was looking into doing a booking a little while back but wasn't sure if there'd be 2 or 3 people and discovered that seemingly identical cabins have different designations as to how many guests they accommodate.  I have no idea why it's like that, and maybe they'll let you simply add a person to your cabin, but it's also possible that they'll make you move to a different cabin if you add a third person.

Wait time on the customer service line is about an hour, so I'd call now -- they likely will be able to let you add the person if you're berthed into a stateroom that can accommodate three or four people. You may have to give up your current stateroom for something on a lower deck where most of the 3/4 person staterooms are if you aren't currently berthed into a stateroom for that capacity. But the Magic is sailing at about half capacity or a little bit over, so they should be able to figure something out if you're nice and patient enough. They're pretty stressed out today.

Besides cost the question is whether you would want to share a 180 sq ft room with your mother for a week?  If you are currently traveling as a couple it may be awkward to share with your mom.

Very fair point. If mom came with me, it would be because my husband decided to bail. However, it’s his casino offer, so removing him wouldn’t be possible so we’d just pay up and have him no show. He hasn’t decided if he wants to go or not…but I still want to go! If he goes…sorry mom! She’s never cruised so she won’t know what her son-in-law deprived her of, lol.

This doesn't get a person blacklisted for future casino offers?  Or is that not a concern?

Topic started out as adding a third person. OP then says husband may not go. No blacklisted needed as she says they'd pay the updated fare. Poorly worded as it says have him no show. They'd have to get third person added prior to cruise, can't just show up at pier as a name change.

Yes but I think the concern mentioned is that the person offered the special rate will not be traveling.  It is possible that the casino may recognize that the player didn’t show up and reduce or eliminate future offers.

this seems to be the best solution!

especially since you might have privacy for a lower cost!

call and let us know what you find out :)
