Can I cancel my cruise and receive FCC??

I'm on a Jan 10th -15 Long Beach to Mexico

I was wondering has anyone had success getting FCC on a cruise like this one? I don't want to go cancel and then find I am out all that money.

I didn't buy any kind of protection. I'm really worried about the COVID surges.

Any tips on how to properly cancel and get my FCC?

Are we not still in a Public health emergency? Would that qualify me?

"The most recent renewal is consistent with the administration’s announcement that the PHE will continue through at least the end of 2021, and marks the seventh time since the initial declaration was made in March of 2020. The renewed declaration will last for 90 days through January 16, 2022."

Thanks for any help!!

I'm also booked on the 1/10 Radiance cruise.  Not going to cancel unless my wife or I test positive before departure.  I am perfectly comfortable wearing an N95 mask, and that is what I will do when in public interior spaces.  I will enjoy the ship very much at less than 50% capacity!

CCL is now offering guests on itineraries traveling now through January 14 the option to reschedule or cancel their cruise without paying any cancellation fees.

According to XXXXX the cruise line sent every guest expected to cruise between these dates a letter by President Christine Duffy detailing COVID-19 protocols, as well as outlining the new option. “We recognize that given the circumstances, some of our guests may want to consider sailing at a different time,” said Duffy.

To be clear, the only change from ongoing policy in that letter regarding sailings through January 14th appears to be the option to get a full refund, not just a FCC.

Everyone, regardless of sail date, has the option to cancel and get a FCC for as long as the Public Health Emergency declared by the federal government is still in effect. That Public Health Emergency will need yet another 90 day extension in mid-January, but considering the US had a daily record for new cases yesterday that extension is all but certain.

"If, following a declaration of a Public Health Emergency, you cancel a booking for a cruise scheduled during the declared emergency, or must cancel your booking because you are prohibited from traveling to the vessel due to a governmental travel restriction, but the cruise is not cancelled, you are entitled to a FCC for the amount paid to Carnival."

I have cancelled every cruise since March 2020 and received a refund. The latest was my March 2022 cruise and I am about to cancel my May 2022 cruise once those protocols are announced. I have received a full refund in 3-4 days on my credit card. You need to call Carnival and talk to someone.

I canceled my Jan. 15th cruise, one day after the current cancel offer expires, on Dec. 26th.  It was a casino offer.  I was NOT allowed a refund or FCC.  I was allowed to move my cruise to a future date at the prevailing rate.  No price protection.  If someone has been able to cancel outside the Jan. 14 cancel offer for FCC or refund and did it in the last week only, I'd love to hear about it.  I had always been able to cancel before this, but not this time!

When we log in and view cancellation info for our Jan 22nd cruise, we see this:

CANCELLATIONS OR CHANGES NOT ALLOWED FOR BOOKING WITH PREVIOUSLY WAIVED PENALTY.PLEASE CALL ESOLUTIONS @ 1-800-845-2599.

We haven't done any sort of waived penalty before (we booked in September under Early Saver). Am I misreading something? We are considering pushing our cruise back a month.

I saw this message when I moved my Jan. 15th, 2022 cruise to Jan. 2023.  It was under the new booking's cancellation details. My original cruise had a cancellation $ amount.  I was told that when I moved this cruise, it was my last chance and that there would be no future option to move it again.  I would have to pay the full cruise price penalty at that time since my final payment date was kept at Oct. 2021.  The moved cruise is a year away.  I am hoping that we don't have problems next year.  Not pleased with Carnival's new hardnosed approach right now.  I guess they are needing to move on and are trying to protect as much income as they can.

I just got off the phone with Carnival (after an almost 3 hour wait on hold) to cancel my January 29, 2022 Mardi Gras cruise.  The lady was very nice and told me I could move to a future cruise with no price protection or I could receive a FCC.  I chose the FCC and she told me I have to call to rebook by March 31, 2022.  My drink package and taxes/port fees were refunded to my credit card.

Dang. I wish I could have received the FCC option.  Was your cruise a casino offer?  Mine was and moving my cruise was my only option.

You can cancel for a full refund (or FCC) if you depart on any sailing up until 1/14/22, so yes, you qualify for a refund. I cancelled yesterday for my 1/9/22 departure.

I'm on a Princess cruise Jan 15 and they would not let me cancel for FCC. I have insurance but not cancel for any reason.

My cruise was a casino offer as well.  I'd definitely call again and try someone else!  I'm not sure if this helped but I told the lady I was from Canada and everything was shutdown here, tests are hard to get and we have to isolate for 5 days when returning (which is true).  Give a little sob story and it might help. Lol

It looks to me like on Princess you can get a FCC up to 30 days before you sail for voyages through April 30, 2022.

https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cancellation-final-payment-policy/

Within 30 days, you only get a FCC if someone in your stateroom tests positive for Covid within those 30 days.

But you'll get a more reliable answer on the Princess board.

Did they charge a price difference to move or were you just able to move it to another sailing with the same price/offer?

Thanks for checking, I'm past the 30 days - it looked OK 2 weeks ago. I wish I could postpone to a later cruise hopefully things will change again before we go.

They used my current offers and the going rate for the cruise I moved to.  In my case the cruise was $200 cheaper and I received that in onboard credit.

Nice!!  I'm booked with a crazy cheap rate, so definitely not getting money back, but hoping for a decent rate if we have to rebook!
