OBC>Specialty dinning ?

As stated above, most places are a la carte, so there is nothing to pay until the time.

If you want to either buy a dining package or reserve Teppanyaki or Moderno without having a package before sailing then you would have to pay up front and can't use OBC for that.

If you wait until boarding to buy the package then you can use your OBC to do that. Similarly, if you reserve Moderno or Teppanyaki onboard then you don't pay until you eat and can use your OBC then.

Being a la carte at some places you might want to wait until you get onboard and ask to upgrade your specialty dinning package and use the OBC to pay for the difference.

Yes, one of the 'tricks' for the Free-at-Sea dining if you want to eat at more specialty venues than you have dining credits is to book the venues with cover charge first, then book other venues.  This results in no charges up front (the cover charges are considered 'paid' by the meals in the FAS promo but won't actually 'pay' until you dine), then you can choose where to use the credits once on board.

just buy a 3 4 5 6 or 7 day specialty dining pass onboard and go to whatever place you want whenever and it will be charged to your folio once and then the obc is credited to your folio. every meal you will sign a $0 bill.
