From experience, if you are not buying refundable airfare, you are going to have extremely strict deadlines it has to be used. Do not even attempt to request even a 1-week change. This was our case with American. We had $1,000 in credit. We only needed to extend the use 1-week for our April cruise. They denied it. We will lose the $1,000.

Great advice from everyone.  I will be waiting a bit,  then spend the extra money on buying a refundable ticket....I am sure the cost of insurance wouldn't be any more.  Hope that the cruising industry gets back on its feet.  We took a short cruise in November and had a wonderful time, all protocols were followed, but I guess that vaccinated or not, it is going around!
