Viking Not Allowing Independent Excursions for 1/21 & 2/21

Was booked for Viking's Northern Lights Tour in February but received notice that we would only be allowed off ship if on a Viking tour or excursion. They hope to resume independent tours/excursions in March. We canceled since we have independent excursions booked and prefer being able to wander through towns and cities on our own. We like a pint in a pub or a quick lunch with the locals and this would have prevented that. We rebooked for next year hoping that the world stops going through the Covid cycle.

Has the itinerary changed for the Northern Lights cruise on Venus for the trip departing on 5 Feb 2022?  Read somewhere that the pre-cruise stay in London was cancelled and that those going would arrive the morning of departure and be taken directly to board the ship.  Anything?

The quarantine for UK arrivals is no longer in place, just the test within two days, this can be PCR or lab certified lateral flow. Needs to be booked in advance.

If you are going straight to the ship from the airport you are in transit and don't need the test, but you then can't leave the ship after boarding.

Viking's procedures are stricter than the UK's now, by the end of March the government aim to have ended all restrictions and test requirements, other than those for vaccinations and boosters, which aren't required for entry now, but may be soon.

No legislative reason why bubbles should be needed in the UK. If you test positive you have to isolate, but that's pretty much it.

People doing an independent pre cruise extension shouldn't have any problems, other than the usual test timing/expense hassle
