Ship's Chart Auction

On our recent Cloud cruise (our first on SS), there was a spirited bidding war at the Captain's Farewell session during the auction of the annotated chart showing the ship's path during our sailing. The final purchase price was $8000. That's about $7500 more than we've seen at similar auctions on other cruise lines (we've purchased two such charts on Princess). Is that price typical for an SS chart auction? If so, it amounted to a very generous donation to the general crew fund.

Way back in 2010/11 we cruised Antarctica on an Australian ship the Orion.Their auction was of an Australian $100 note which features Australia's most famous Antarctic Explorer Douglas Mawson. The note though was signed by 2 of his Grandchildren and both the Reserve Bank Governor and out national Treasurer.

I was prepared to go to $3000.No chance as it fetched $30000.
