DebraAnn Posted February 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2006 Anyone know how the parking works in Tampa? Can you drop your luggage off then go park? Only other time i ever cruised was out of Port Canaveral and this is how we did it so i'm just wondering.
Annecj Posted February 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2006 Yes you can drop off your luggage before going to park. The parking garage will be very close by. You do have to pay for the entire stay when you enter the garage. Seems a bit strange to me.
KINGBOBOFTHENORTH Posted February 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2006 Paying for parking going IN is far superior than paying when you go OUT. Everyone doesn't arrive at the same time for their cruise. But everyone leaves at the same time! Port Canaveral also charges as you go in, Miami on the way out. Miami is chaos at the cashier booths! Twinsmomct Posted February 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2006 It looks like the parking for the cruise terminal is right across the street from where you can drop off your luggage. When we got to the curb at the terminal, there were MANY porters there to take your luggage. You then don't see it until it's delivered to your stateroom. So go ahead and drop it off and then go park.
time4u2go Posted February 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2006 There is a circle where you can drop off your bags, then go park. One thing to be aware of...there are 2 garages there...one for short term (for the nearby Florida Aquarium), one for long term (cruises). We of course parked in the long term garage. When we returned from our cruise, we walked into the garage to the location of our car, and we didn't see our car! Not a good feeling after a 7 day cruise! My wife said that the garage didn't seem right, and it turned out that she was right...we had wandered into the short term garage, which is closer to the port, and had mistaken it for the long-term garage. They both look very similar from the outside. Just something to be aware of when you return.
cruisegirl1 Posted February 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2006 For a dollar or so extra per day you can get valet service. We did this twice and had our car delivered in less than 3 minutes. I think they bring the valet cars to the lot where you leave the terminal so there is no wait. As for the drop off – I believe we dropped the luggage and car at the same time and spot. cruizinrican Posted February 22, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2006 We did the valet parking at Tampa (our home port but first time we have used it) and it was about $20 extra. I think it is well worth the price, you pull up and they unload the luggage, take your keys, sign a claim paper that you turn back in then returning the vechicle and your off to the escalator to check-in! In minutes we were we checked in and on the ship! So fast but we also are platinium so it went quick!:)
