acrylic or gel?/

I am getting fake nails on Thurs for my upcoming cruise.....I have never gotten gel but it looks like gel may be a better option, after reading a recent post....

Do gel stay on as well? Are they as sturdy? Any hints, advise or comments.

I only get nails on for vacation....and they fall off after a 2-3 weeks...

Since you plan on taking them off, I'd go with the gel. With acrylic nails, the natural fingernail has to be roughed up for the product to stick well. With gel, they do a bit, but not to the extent of acrylic. When I took my gels off after 2-3 years, my natural nails were a little weak for a couple of months, but not damaged.

It also depends, a great deal, on the expertise of the person applying the nails.

I've had both and I would recommend gels. They are much easier to get off than acrylics which have to be soaked off. I've had gels for several years until yesterday when I decided to try natural nails again. When the gels came off my nails were definitely in better shape than when I had the acrylics removed some years ago. Good luck.
