Long Med Cruises - Importance of Cabin Choice?

Our family is taking a 21 day Mediterranean cruise this summer, and we can't decide how to think about cabins (we'll need two - parents + three teens).  On a long cruise like this, we'd normally prioritize having great cabins with great balconies, since there'd be so much time spent on the ship.  However, we're doing this cruise to see the ports, and most port days look pretty long.  It sort of feels like the cabin will be for crashing at night more than anything else.  There are only 5 or so "sea days" the whole cruise.

Who has done a longer Med cruise like this (bonus if with your older kids!)?  Did you find that cabin selection was less important on this itinerary? Any thoughts appreciated.  We're making ourselves crazy making arguments several different directions!

I would go with one balcony cabin for 5he parents and an inside cabin for the three teens.

You could choose these to be opposite each other on 5he same floor and corridor that way everyone can use the balcony when needed. On a med cruise which is very port intensive I don’t think you will use your balcony that much…but saying that one cabin with a balcony would be great.

We did a cruise with our elderly MIL & our niece (her granddaughter in her early 20’s) before the world “ended”. They were in an inside room and we were in a balcony room across the hall. Worked out great for all of us. We prefer being in the aft so that’s the location we went with. We used the balcony a few times, and they joined us.
