She was different from everyone else: that's why I set it apart from NORWEGIAN JADE or NCL, as I knew it before and learned to appreciate it.

The new journey starts with the arrival of the MSC MAGNIFICA from Venice to Athens.

 

A lovely evening with our Greek work colleagues.

 

And a relaxing day in Athens and surroundings before boarding the ship.

 

With the help of our taxi friend Johanna, I discovered the possibilities in the port of Piraeus to go shipspotting in peace the following day.

Embarkation day:

 

Lovely many familiar faces from previous NCL trips. I throw a lot of reunion parties. But I'm not on MY NORWEGIAN JADE anymore. Somehow it's not like it used to be.

 

Unfortunately, we don't have a sea day: so, unfortunately, only a tiny greet and meet from cruisecritic.com takes place without senior officers.

 

Nicola Ward, solid female voices: Whitney Houston, Adele - is a great guest artist on board!

We are so lucky:

 

Only lovely weather since we left Germany before the MSC MAGNIFICA and during the whole trip.

 

With full power, we start in Mykonos. A great tour guide awaits us: Antonis.

 

It continues in Patmos. We walk around there by ourselves because we get caught up in the clutches of the cruise "mafia" who believe that cruisers are fair game to gut.

 

Continue to Rhodes. Although there for the third time: for the first time with expert guidance from Fotini. A short detour to Marmaris without stopping.

 

And for the first time to Crete: Heraklion with Maria, who takes us to a tremendous organic olive farm.

We continue to Katakolo. Here we hike a little and again have a delicious lunch at Despina's in Jimmy's tavern.

 

An Irish guides us through Santorini: Martina. All Instagram motives, but she insists on much more when we book her as a guide: the life, housing, and culture of ordinary islanders away from the tourist spots of Oia and Fira.

 

And back in Piraeus, it's back to Sounion for the third time before heading home. The end of a beautiful journey.
