Wild truck adventure is run by Chukka tours, I took it the last week in April 2023.  It takes you here:  W536+42, Bajo Hondo 57000, Dominican Republic

The wild truck is an open bed, with a roof, large old US military truck with the bed modified to seat about 10 rows of people four across.  I'm a big guy, 250lbs, and the seating was tight.  It was pretty tall which gave good visibility.  I saw a vinyl window for the front but nothing on the sides, it would be a wet ride if raining.  There was nothing "wild" about the tour, we drove through town and then about 10 miles back a gravel road to the address I mentioned above.  From the Puerto Plata port we drove past Amber cove, so the truck tour would probably be shorter if porting at Amber Cove.  The truck slowed or stopped a bunch of times for the guide to explain things about the area, mostly animals and plants. If was a hot day, we were given a bottle of water at the start of the tour and again when climbing onto the truck for the ride back to port.

We stopped at two pre-arranged stops, one to buy cigars and another to buy trinkets.  You'll be given a free cigar if you want it, and a thimble of hot chocolate or coffee.  You'll also get a thimble of a drink called MamaJuana at the other stop and it was tasty.  The tour guide seemed knowledgeable about the local area, he did have a heavy accent so you needed to pay close attention to understand him.

The lunch and beach break takes place at Chukka tours outpost, the address above.  Lunch was buffet style and tasted pretty good.  There was chicken, fish that was questionably cooked enough and a mayo macaroni salad that was warm in the sun.  Questionable food safety but we ate it and didn't get sick.

The beach was nice, lots of loungers both in the sun and in the shade.  Other Chukka tours take place at the same place, you'll see people zip lining and 4 wheels running about.

Took the Wild Truck adventure in Nov 2023. Description is accurate but omits that the back roads travelled are very rutted and the ride in the back of the truck is extremely uncomfortable! Bouncing up from your seat even when the truck is going very slowly. Either the roads need to be regraded or a vehicle with a better suspension should be used.
