NYC Disembakation Excursions...Would you recommend?

We are looking at the touring choices for disembarkation day--Princess offers a bus tour and takes you to the AP at 3pm. We will not have much time to spend in NY as we are flying in the night before our cruise and then out the evening we arrive back in port.  We are ok with just a brief glimpse of the area as we will return later for more indepth visit.  Has anyone done this that can offer their opinion?

We did the post-cruise tour that dropped us off at LGA in 2010.  We are planning on booking it again for our cruise this fall.  It was nice to get a quick overview of the city, when it was our first visit to NYC.  At that time, all of the rebuilding was going on.  It will be interesting to see how things have changed. We have been to NYC twice since 2010 but we never went around the 9/11 memorial area. It is a good way to spend time until our 6:00pm flight.

This sounds like a good idea and you won't have to worry about getting to the airport.

The other suggestion that I would have would be to compare prices. Does Princess have the option to ship your bags to the airport for you? They do this in FLL so you don't see your bags until you get home.

If you are bag free, you may want to pick a spot/attraction that you are really interested in and just do that.

For instance, if you are interested in lower Manhattan you could spend your time there...it is walkable and loaded with things to do...like the boats to the statue and Ellis Island, WTC museum tours, Eataly, Native American museum...and many other spots. It's very easy to get a cab/uber back to your airport from this or any area in the city
