Excited to be sailing on the L Austral on 8 day musical cruise to Ireland and Scotland in April 2023. We are booked in a superior stateroom . Could anyone give feedback on this type of stateroom ? Also how does Ponant compare to mainstream cruise lines ie Princess or Celebrity. Thanks in advance for your responses

Standard cabins (except for the few oceanview ones) are pretty much all the same.  It's compact but relatively efficient.

Deck 3 ones have windows and a water-tight doors and steel balcony shielding for waves.

Deck 4 and up have glass unless the cabin is towards the front.

No comparison to Princess and Celebrity.  No casino, no incessant marketing, no extras, MDR seats all pax (and offiicers/senior hotel crew)in one sitting.  Strangely it is the buffet hat requires evening reservations!

The Superior Stateroom is the only cabin class that doesn't have a balcony. The room is dimensionally the same as other cabins, but instead of a balcony, there's a lounge that can be converted into a bed, making this potentially a three-person cabin.

The furnishings and amenities are otherwise very similar to the higher cabin classes.

Be aware that this is in the lower bow of the ship and there could be wave noise through the hull.   Was in a deck 4 balcony cabin directly above such cabins and we could hear the sounds in rough seas.  We actually had a superior cabin for the 2nd leg of the B2B cruise (cheaper and more - extra 3 m^2  of room)  but the crew was fine with us staying in our balcony cabin.
