Yes the coffee...

and if you like other things like woodcarved things like masks, pipes whatever ,, the craft market has excellent deals,

they are kinda pushy but the deals are great.. we bought so many things there it was ridiculous . alot of hand made baskets , necklaces,,, etc etc ...

we did a shopping and highlights tour on carnival, ( just to be safe )

it was worth it

Can any one tell me where is the best place to buy some?

Is it sold in whole bean? I have heard it is around $20.00 a pound, and that there will be folks trying to pawn off other coffee, saying it is the same. Any advise would be appreciated!

Hi there Kurt. I've bought some in Negril years back at their local supermarket. I would imagine it's a bit cheaper there than in a touristy shop and I can remember it being offered as whole and ground. I've heard people mention that their should be some sort of official seal on the bag...don't think I even checked. In my opinion I think Blue Mtn. Coffee is the best. Very smooth and yummy!

Please be aware the Jamaican casinos are essentially only slot and video machines. Other legalized gambling is horseracing, and lotto.

There are no casinos in Jamaica as such, however quite a few hotels have what are known as gaming lounges. These have slot machines and automated games.

Grocery stores have a good price. But be aware tho they take US cash, the change will be in JA dollars. Mavis Bank and Jablum is the brands you should basically look for. Never pay more than $20 US for a pound. Bags come in 4 oz, 8 oz, 12 oz, and 16 oz bags. I have even seen it in 5 lb bags! Yes it does come in bean (the only way I buy it). It also comes in bottles like the Starbuck Fruppacinos (yummy!).

We have a good relationship with a shop accross the street from Sandals Royal Carib in Mobay and don't pay anymore than what you pay at the aiport (which has good prices too). Resorts, obviously, have the worst prices. The prices at the Island Village seem a little high to us too but it is convenient.

JA High Mtn. coffee, tho not as good as Blue, is also very good and cheaper. It also comes instant if that's what you like.

Just becareful who you buy from for the Blue.

Interested in a free margarita in Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville in Jamaica? Just go to the web site listed in the thread from CJC, above, for the island village, open up the link to Buffets, click on stores, and under "signs" you will see salt shakers at the bottom, click on it and when printed will get you a free Margarita. If you want two, you have to go back into signs to print another. Good luck

for the coffee a way I found out about the "knock off" bags are the origional are sewn shut while the imitation ones are stapled. I saw them both ways when I was there but all of them at the port area were the real thing as far as I know.....hope that helps someone out
