Port vs Starboard on Transatlantic Crossing

My wife and I have crossed on the QM2 from NY to Southampton several times in January and have always stayed on the port side. This time we're planning to cross in May and would be interested in the opinions of more experienced Cunarders about the pros and cons of cabins on the port vs starboard sides. We recognize that this issue may not be the most urgent one of our times but thought it might be informative and fun to solicit your opinions. Thank you in advance.

We tend to book round trips, so sunlight tends to balance out between the eastbound and westbound crossings.

The differences we have found are

 - Starboard usually has a view across NY Harbor when docked in Brooklyn

 - Both spaces where smoking is permitted (Churchill’s and the Pig & Whistle) are on the starboard side, and may exhaust their effluent on that side as well. (Or so my nose suspects)

We are showing a guarantee for next fall, but will be happy with any BU category room.

We crossed from NY to S’ton in May in a portside (north facing) cabin.

we also crossed a year later from S’ton to NY in a portside (south facing).

I would only cross with south facing cabin in future - the north facing got very little sun light and was darker and generally less welcoming.

I agree about facing south. Aside from making the cabin a bit brighter, it's possible to sit outside in a sheltered balcony is all but the worst weather.
