If you cruise Virgin Voyages, you need your phone app to do everything.  Uggh.  Not good.

 

(Although I do like their small bracelet they require instead of a passenger key card).

 

Anyway, I'm very glad NCL is not (yet) going in the phone app mandatory direction.  Like FLGoodShips, it's nice to put that thing out of sight and mind while cruising.

You only need the NCL App if you want to be able to text/call your family or friends who are onboard with you. Costs $9.95 for the week. All bookings etc can be done from your cabin tv or the screens around the ship.
