justn15 Posted February 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2006 I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it takes to get from the Fort Lauderdale airport to the port of Miami? we are trying to find flight times and it is much cheaper to fly into FLL on the day of the cruise than Miami. The flight arrives at FLL at 10:45 in the morning and the boat departs at 4 does this give us enough time time to get there without rushing and worrying any advice would be great. thanks

I've read here that it takes anywhere from 45 min. to an hour depending on traffic. You should have plenty of time with whatever method of transportation you choose. CMU Posted February 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2006 We flew in on Saturday night -- stayed at Ramada inn by the airport. I would recommend flying in day early -- in case of delays at airport or anything. Ramada INN had free shuttle from airport to hotel. We had Limo company pick us up at 9:30. They arrived promptly. We were loaded before 10 and we were at the pier by 10:15-10:30. Granted we did not have much traffic. It was so easy. It is worth the extra money to fly in the day before and pay for hotel. Peace of mind and good night rest is well worth it. I'd hate to miss the ship because of saving a few dollars on airfare. After our trip, I can guarantee you the airlines don't care about getting you somewhere.
serene56 Posted February 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2006 IF your flight arrives in FLL at 10:45 thats plenty of time to get to MIA port. When looking to book flights into fll to sail out of MIA make sure the savings is enough plus some to warrant the 45 minute drive. We did that and saved over 130pp to fly into FLL. We used www.larryslimo.com but www.floridalimo.com is just as good (if you wait for the cruiselines shuttle they dont usually start out til noon so you would be stuck waitng for over 1 hours.) Also -- do not book your return flight before 1pm as a safety net. We also stayed at the Ramada but the shuttle would not be leaving until 12:30 (which is too late for me)
