Best ways to spend cruise credit on Celebrity? (and the worst ways too..!)

I am confused about the casino.  We just booked a cruise during a cruise and between being in a Sky Suite and taking advantage of a special onboard, we have a $1,400 OBC for a 10 day cruise.  We will NEVER use all of that.

Can't I just get cash at the blackjack table as I normally do (paying a fee) and that will go against the OBC on my account.  I would then gamble with some of it and take the other chips and cash them out.  I don't mind absorbing the fee to get $1000 back.

Yes you can. An easier and more efficient way would be to do it at Roulette and play in a way that gives you a pretty good (not perfect) certainty of getting your money back.

Just wanted to point out one thing.  The OBC from your agent is usually a refundable credit and if you don't spend it, it goes back on your credit card.   The Celebrity Credits must be used or they are lost.

Exactly,  great response.

We all have different tastes, interests, and " wants "--- Therefore it's hard to suggest what someone else wants to spend their OBC on.

An example ---  On our last cruise we purchased a 4 night Specialty dining package, an over-priced sweater that " you know who " wanted, and the balance ( $ 27 ) we asked to be given to our Room Steward, over and above what we gave him on the last evening of the cruise--- his service was excellent.

We each had $100 refundable OBC from our travel agent (in addition to lots of Celebrity non-refundable OBC). But for that $200, we had it returned to the same credit card we used to book a future cruise while onboard.

The new booking required a deposit of $100 each of us, which was not a refundable deposit if we were to cancel. So if we have to cancel, we won’t be out anything as the deposit was “paid for” by our travel agent!

As for the non-refundable, we used it for:

— extra gratuities for staff

— paying the difference in price, plus gratuity, for wine that wasn’t in premium package

— treating 2 first-time cruisers to dine with us in Luminae
