When did pajamas for adults become acceptable attire in the buffet?
Dock B replied to mrstmaxx96's topic in Princess Cruises
Pacific Princess 2015, the Princess 50th Anniversary cruise that recreated their 1st cruise fifty years prior. There was a mid-cruise brunch in the MDR. The maitre d’ wore his footy pajamas!! It was very fun and matched his personality. The passengers were not in their pj’s. -
“Captain Bye-bye’s” real name is Captain Tuvo.

When in a hotel, we count the number of doorways to get to the closest emergency stairs and to the alternate exit. In the event you had to duck low or crawl to get to an exit, the number of steps would not help but you could still feel the doorways. DW and I need to do a better job of finding secondary (the “hidden” stairway exits) when on a cruise ship and knowing how to get there, in addition to the main stairs. Once, on a Princess ship, they had pax using both the main stairwells and the “hidden” ones for muster drill. Unfortunately, only the main stairs & elevators were available after drill.

@Best Cat Mom loving your review—thank you for taking time to share with all of us. We’ll sail Divina this coming December in YC as our 3rd MSC cruise. Our cabin is 2 doors aft from yours, 15026. Anything we need to know about the location (noise, interlopers…anything positive or not-so-positive). We won’t try to change rooms but if there is something to be aware of, this will give us time to moderate our expectations if we need to. Regardless of anything, we plan on having a lovely, relaxing time in YC!! I thank you for your insight. PS: got any photos from the auto garage yet?!?

I’m not absolutely positive regarding this comment but my guess is the “bye-bye” at the end of the announcement is from Captain Tuvo (I think he’s your captain). Captain Tuvo is Italian so if the announcer’s accent is British, then the CD also utilizes Captain Tuvo’s signature sign-off. I agree with your assessment regarding most all CDs: it really doesn’t matter to me who they are and there are very few who I’ve had direct interactions with and/or who are memorable, regardless of the cruise line. Again, thank you for sharing all of the information about your cruise with us!!

YC Questions - Luggage drop off at port & fridge restocking
Dock B replied to Toddcan's topic in MSC Cruises
Maybe someone in YC would swap their Toblerone for the prosecco!!! We did give ours to a couple we met in YC and they too were super appreciative. -
Whenever we finally get to cruise Cunard and a masquerade evening is part of the schedule, I plan on wearing the necktie I bought in Venice that depicts the cityscape…even if it’s not a proper tie for a black tie evening, it sure would seem to be a proper tie for the theme!

I’m Mrs Dock B and I heartily concur!! I’m from Alexandria and only eat gumbo when south of there!

@DaKahuna thank you for the written ship-tour explanation, as our review of the deck plans were not as clear as your description! We’ve been on Seaside and Seashore, but their layout is different enough from Divina that we wanted further input—we really appreciate your help! Now just waiting on the travel agent to return DWs call… Enjoy the rest of your cruise!!

@DaKahuna if you have a moment to offer an opinion, DW and I would really appreciate your insight. We are considering a Divina cruise in YC (this will be our 3rd MSC YC cruise) and would like a cabin as far aft on deck 15 as possible. I realize there are a couple of HC cabins there so we wouldn’t get one of those. My question is: are these YC cabins too close to the public elevators or the pool area where we’d be disturbed by noise? Thank you for your thoughts and for your review.

I don’t think it’s an animal: maybe a 3-leg basket with a rose in the center for Valentines??

Thank you for this post. My DW looked into getting me a TaDa chair and was able to get it on sale right after Thanksgiving. However, after using it on a 10 day cruise along with 4 other days of vacation on that trip which required navigating airports, planes, hotels, shuttles, cruise terminals, ship, ports, etc. it was worth even the regular price! She saw a gentleman traveling with his family who was using a cane with the 3 legs and round seat (seems the other 2 stick-out-legs and/or the seat that doesn’t fold could cause a trip if the cane got rotated), showed the family my TaDa chair. They were so thankful for the information. So you have helped at least 2 families: thank you! Tip for using it at the airport: I didn’t need it on our outbound flight so we had it in the carry bag. TSA did not put it through the X-ray machine but handed it off to an agent to be examined. So on the return flight, I had it out of the bag using it and the agent simply had me put it through the X-ray. Having it X-rayed saved time at security and we didn’t have to feel as if we were blocking others while waiting for it to be examined. Again, thank you for sharing this information!

Just off Seashore 12/17. The themes then were tropical, flower (like 60’s & 70’s), and white. There were also casual attire and elegant nights. Most of the theme festivities didn’t seem to start until 1030pm though people dressed the themes (if they wanted to) starting in the late afternoon/early evening. DW and I did bring the attire and (mostly) wore it but didn’t attend any of the themed activities. For us on future MSC cruises, we probably won’t try as hard to bring those theme-type clothes unless they happen to be items we’d likely wear on any cruise, regardless of any theme just because we still won’t attend those late night parties (or probably not attend—never say never!).

Seashore 10-day 12/7-17: attempting a live-from!!
Dock B replied to gotta cruise again's topic in MSC Cruises
@jean87510 I too was wondering about that! Maybe it's the cabana's on the regular pool deck and not YC?? I really do not know. If we make it back to the spa, I'll ask for clarification. Speaking of the spa...I really should go down there today while we're in port and it may not be too busy, to try out all those showers, salt room, saunas, snow room, etc. etc.!! -
Just read this and saw y’all sitting in TS lounge: we are just above where you were sitting, about to have lunch! Will look for y’all and introduce ourselves.

Mrs B here again regarding the rhinestones: some rhinestones are not actually clear all the way through like a real gemstone is. Take special care as many rhinestones have a metallic backing that could be removed if using anything abrasive like a brush…and keep in mind that toothpaste can be abrasive.

Yes, thank you! I too will need some accommodation and cannot do the stairs, even down, for more than maybe 1 flight and that’s kinda iffy.

DW and I are also on the 3 + 7 in the YC…not too long left to wait!
