i3utterfli82 Posted February 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2006 I just booked my wedding on the Inspiration in May. I would be lying by saying that I am not nervous......about the ship!! I have no clue where they will put us for the actual ceremony since there is no chapel. I am assuming we will be in the piano area for the reception. Since I have yet to sail on this ship, what should I expect? I guess I am afraid it will look old, worn, and dark. Any past experiences would be helpful! Thanks, Stef
bookworm61 Posted February 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Hi, I just got off the Inspiration a few days ago. The ship looked great. It isn't worn or shabby or tacky. There was a bride on the ship on the day of departure. She had an escort from the cruise ship who politely told us that the elevator they were in was for the bridal party only. This was fine with us and we congratulated the bride. I don't know any other details of the wedding, but I can tell you that a few days later there was a roped off stairwell with a placard saying "Private Function." It could have been for a wedding reception. This is a good sign since it means that you wouldn't have strangers in swimsuits tramping through your reception.:D Also, in Grand Cayman, a young lady on the tender boat was carrying a fancy dress with her? I jokingly asked if she was going to the beach and she replied that in fact she was going to the beach to get married.
jerseygirl3 Posted February 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2006 We were married onboard the Imagination a few years ago and since we had so many guests (62), we couldn't get married in our first place of choice (the library). They held our ceremony and reception in the Shangi-La Lounge, and although I was afraid it would look really cheesy, it didn't at all.
Ehpride Posted February 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2006 I didn't think the ship looked very worn at all. People were always cleaning even when there didn't seem like there was anything to clean. And the ship wasn't nearly as gaudy as I expected it to be. If you can, take some pictures in your wedding dress on the Promenade deck...the woodwork is beautiful.
woodman Posted February 26, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Have no worries the Inspiration is a wonderful ship We have sailed her 4 times and enjoyed every cruise. If you use the Library for you wedding you will find new carpet as it was being installed at the beginning of Feb. when we last cruised the Inspiration. The Piano bar Rhapsody in Blue is a great room and is not tacky at all if fact it is kind of sedate in decor. For a large4r room there is the Candle Light lounge which is quite large. There are a couple of other night clubs along the Promenade all of which you will find in great shape. I saved the price list for the shore excursions for Grand Cayman and Cozumel. If you would like me to E-Mail you a copy contact me at woodman73@earthlink.net. Good luck and have a great cruise.
i3utterfli82 Posted February 27, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted February 27, 2006 I just got off the phone with my Carnival planning person and my options are the library which only holds 35 people (We have 50) and the candlelight lounge. For those of you who have cruised Inspiration, would the candlelight lounge make for a good wedding? I thought I wanted the reception in the Chopin Bar, but they told me it is not private, and that put a damper on things. Rhapsody in Blue is the other most likely option because we are having a piano player. I want everything to be on the most "elegant" parts of the ship
Ehpride Posted February 27, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2006 No, I don't remember the Chopin Lounge being very private. What are you other choice for the reception?

i3utterfli82 Posted February 28, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted February 28, 2006 My choices for the reception are rhapsody in blue, avant garde, and the rock and roll club I think. There will need to be a piano there where ever it ends up being.
Ehpride Posted February 28, 2006 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2006 The Rhapsody in Blue had a piano but seems awfully small for 50 people.
