o-state girl Posted April 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2022 (edited) I rented from Hertz near the cruise terminal pre-Covid (March 2020), but I think that location is closed at the moment. I had downloaded offline Google maps so I could navigate around the island while my phone was still in airplane mode. I also took one of those car vent cell phone holders with me so that I could see the map as I drove. There was a gas station very close to the car return spot on the road back to the terminal. We made a big loop around the island and the gas was less than $10 for the day. There is pay parking a Maho Beach if you want to see the planes land at the airport. Orient Beach (the non-nude part) was another nice place to explore. We stopped for a little while near the open air market at Marigot (I think we found on street parking for free there). The only 2 times I've ever rented cars in Sint Maarten... one was broken into at Orient Beach, and the other one was stolen right off the street in Philipsburg.
