Sunseeker20 Posted April 9, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2022 Hello everyone! Just a question about passports... we are a family of 5 going on an Alaska cruise next spring. We live in Vancouver BC , the cruise leaves from Vancouver and comes back to port there as well. Will our children need passports to enter Alaska if we are on a closed loop cruise? I'm unsure of all the requirements since covid!

In theory Canadian citizen children under the age of 16 can enter the US via land or sea with a birth certificate: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/western-hemisphere-travel-initiative "What types of documents are accepted for entry into the United States via land and sea? U.S. and Canadian citizen children under the age of 16 (or under 19, if traveling with a school, religious group, or other youth group) need only present a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship. The birth certificate can be original, photocopy, or certified copy." However, cruise lines may impose more stringent requirements than those allowed by this regulation and require a passport so you need to check your cruise line's website for their particular rules.
