LindaJ+ Posted April 17, 2022 #27 Share Posted April 17, 2022 Is there an Orange Party? Are we supposed to pack something orange? Hubby has a golf shirt in every color of the rainbow but I have nothing.

Hubby has a golf shirt in every color of the rainbow but I have nothing. On the 4/3 Rotterdam cruise (per the Cruise Director) the 2nd Orange Party was held on the Rotterdam. This confused me because it's been talked about on CC forever. It was on the last sea day night (Friday), which was also gala night (now that I think about it - that was odd). It was held in the BB King Lounge. The regular band played regular music. Many passengers had some sort of orange on. The waiters had bright orange wigs. For the first 30 min or so they came around with trays of various treats - small cream puffs (bossche bol), almond cookies, oliebollen, Dutch cheese, and one more that might have been boeter koek (butter cake). That pretty much was the extent. It's a nice idea and we had fun. But for an Orange party, was a little letdown. 1

You can very clearly see the difference in pool color, especially with the Rotterdam's midship pool.
Alfisti Posted April 17, 2022 #30 Share Posted April 17, 2022 The pools are not painted green - I've been on the Rotterdam twice (Dec 2021 and Apr 2022) and in Dec the pool was drained and refilled and was returned to a 'normal' blue colour. I haven't seen anything online but I'm pretty sure the pools are salt water . The way the pools function, chlorine is supplied at a constant rate so factors such as higher use can actually cause algae to grow at a faster rate (resulting in the green color that develops). LindaJ+ Posted April 17, 2022 #31 Share Posted April 17, 2022 So the pool is full of algae??

Nothing like Dutch Night that once was an entertainment event that included a special Dutch Night menu in the MDR.
LindaJ+ Posted April 17, 2022 #33 Share Posted April 17, 2022 So if you take your key card out of the power slot, does that shut off all power to the cabin? Like if you were trying to charge a device while you were out, there would be no power to the outlets?

waiting2retire Posted April 18, 2022 #38 Share Posted April 18, 2022 For anyone interested, the Lido pool is a beautiful blue this morning. The aft pool is more of a light green, but not yellow. 1
bobpell Posted April 18, 2022 Author #39 Share Posted April 18, 2022 Nice to see normal pool colors. I should have taken pictures during our sojourn Mar. 26 til April 10. Both pools were not so visually appealing Bob
MTAK Posted April 18, 2022 #40 Share Posted April 18, 2022 I haven't previously spent any time in a casino on a HAL ship, but I was at the Casino Bar for a while watching the Master's tournament and it did seem more cramped than I expected. The game tables really seemed crammed together. I was looking forward to trying a Hold 'Em game but the only table they had was one of the Heads Up models and I wasn't interested. Apparently others weren't either as I only ever saw a few people at that table during the entire cruise.
MTAK Posted April 18, 2022 #41 Share Posted April 18, 2022 Here's a picture of the Sea View pool on April 3. It does have a green hue to it but honestly I never thought about it until reading this thread. It definitely looks more blue in the recent pics that were posted. I don't know about the outlets, but I do know it gets real dark in the shower when your significant other pulls her card out of the slot to go get coffee. 😅

Just off the Silhouette where one had no idea what shore excursions were available unless one used the app.I had trouble using the app so gave up. 2)Are there desktop computers available for passenger use? Free with free wifi or for a fee?Since I had purchased the internet package in advance, I could use the four onboard ship computers in the Internet Center on the Main Deck (close to our cabin, 1146). 3)Is there a clothesline in the shower? YES! 4)Does one need a magnetized card for the safe, as well as the lights? Access to the in-room safe was by buttons on the safe that you set to your code. The room stewards can help you if you have trouble. Tip them extra. 5)Is there a light on the balcony for night-time reading? Did not have a balcony. 6)Are fixed time diners and at will diners in separate areas of the main dining room, so the same set of waiters are not having to serve both? We used the Open Dining. The hostess sat us (4 people) at the same table every night with the same staff. Theyb were wonderful guys. We tipped her extra as well. 7)Was a schedule provided at the beginning of the cruise that indicates the gala nights and has the updated port schedule? I think there was a list on the website before the cruise. During the cruise, our itinerary changed for one port which through off the Gala Night. 8)Was a daily event schedule and additional info provided in a daily newsletter delivered the night before? There was a newsletter of the next day's activities every evening before or after dinner. 9)Did you find that you had more tender ports, due to the size of the ship? Other than the private island (which we did use), there were no tender trips. 10)Do I need to bring my ear plugs for the musical performances in the various venues? If you want to hear the music clearly, do not bring ear plugs It was not that loud but you can always pick a location further away from the sound. Like upstairs at B.B. Kings. 11)Were printed copies of newspapers provided? I do not know if you are talking NY Times, etc. I did not care. I wanted to get away from all the "noise". Thanks for any answers. Enkcream Posted April 19, 2022 #45 Share Posted April 19, 2022 If water color is a ph problem, then why are the selves that have 1 to 2 inches of water clear, wouldn’t it be the same color?
