Shoequeen Posted April 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2022 We will be cruising out of Southampton in September. In the past, we’ve stayed at the Premier Inn West Quay. This time we’ve booked the Premier Inn City Center. Has anybody stayed there? Any pros or cons to either location?
Rare John Bull Posted April 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2022 On the other side of the city centre, a pleasant 10-minute walk across parks to The Bargate, the centre-point of the city, and beyond that to the waterfront. So not as convenient as West Quay, and with luggage you'd need a short taxi hop to any cruise terminal. But standards in Premier Inns are pretty consistent. rsquare Posted June 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2022 Back of the hotel overlooks a busy railway line, so if that's a concern, ask for a room in the front. For me it was a feature, not a bug, and the double-glazed windows kept the sound minimal.

We've stayed there a few times. Rooms are as good as any other Premier Inn, and the in house restaurant is perfectly adequate. We prefer it to the one at West Quay as you can park at the hotel itself, but I guess that is not a consideration in your case ! The only downside is that there are limited other eating options around the hotel itself.
