Viking River cruise Air Plus transfers

Hi All,

We have a Grand River cruise coming up in a few months with Viking and when I booked it last year, I added on the Air Plus because we knew we were going to fly in/out couple days before and after the cruise. We wanted to customize the flights.
First of all, they charged us $100/person deviation fee because we’re changing the flights (that’s excluding the $50pp just to have the Air Plus) 

Second, transfers from the ship to hotel are not included. 
 

Has this happened to others? My TA (through Viking) did not state this when I booked.

That was their policy when we did our cruise with them as well. We arranged our own pre and post hotels as well as doing our own transfers.

Any time you add days on your own pre and/or post cruise you pay the deviation fee ($100). You don’t have to pay the $50/pp Air Plus fee if you are willing to take whatever flights Viking gives you.
 

Viking included AIRPORT transfers are from the airport to the ship on embarkation day and from the ship back to the airport at the end of the cruise. Since you won’t be at the airport on embarkation day or returning to the airport at the end of the cruise you can’t use the included transfers. They don’t provide hotel pick ups or drop offs. If you book a Viking extension pre or post cruise that price will include transfers but that is separate from the cruise fare.
